The national flag of Zimbabwe contains seven horizontal stripes
that are colored green, yellow, red and black. On the
Hoist there is a white triangle with a black boarder that
contains a depiction of a soapstone bird which represents the
statue of a bird found at the ruins of Great Zimbabwe. The bird
symbolizes the history of the country while the red star
underneath it stands for the struggle for liberation and
Peace. The color of green on the flag signifies
agriculture in Zimbabwe while the yellow represents the mineral
wealth of the nation. The black strip in the
middle stands for the heritage and ethnicity of the
native Africans of Zimbabwe. The red color stands for the
bloodshed during the war of liberation while the white
represents peace. The flag was adopted on April 18,
1980.
