A high qality picture image of Tonga's Flag

The Tongan flag has been in use since 1864 but was not officially adopted until 1875.  The flag at one time was the same as the flag of the “Red Cross” but was changed to avoid confusion.  The flag contains a red field now and on the canton there is a white square with a red cross.
