The flag of Sudan contains the pan-Arab colors in the form of three horizontal bands colored red,
white and black as well as a green triangle on the hoist.
The black on the flag stands for Sudan, since in Arabic “Sudan" means black. The white symbolizes peace and the green represents Islam. The red color on the flag symbolizes the country’s struggle for
independence. The Sudanese flag was adopted on May 20,
1970.
