The North Korean flag contains the colors of the
original traditional Korean Flag which were red, white
and blue. On
the center red band the white disk symbolizes opposing
principles of nature and the red star stand for
Communism.
The two blue strips at the top and bottom of the flag
represent sovereignty, peace and friendship. The red in the center
represents the Communist revolution and the two white
strips symbolize purity. The national flag of
Korea was adopted on September 8, 1948
