Flag

The flag of New Jersey was
adopted on March 11, 1896. The flag contains a
buff- colored background with the Great Seal of the State
of New Jersey on the center. The buff color on the
flag was used to represent the buff color on the uniform
coats of the New Jersey Continental line which were
ordered by George Washington to be dark blue with buff
facings.
