The flag of Nauru was adopted on January 31, 1968. The flag
illustrates Nauru`s geographical location which is one degree
below the equator. The blue on the flag represents the Pacific
Ocean and the yellow line symbolizes the equator. A twelve
pointed star represents Nauru and its location below the
equator. The 12 points on the flag represent the 12 indigenous
tribes of the island.
