The national flag of Montenegro contains a red field with a golden border around the edges. In the center of the flag is the coat of arms of Montenegro. The coat of arms contains a double headed crowned eagle with its wings extended. On the eagles crest is a shield with a golden lion and on one claw a scepter and on the other claw an orb. Origins of the coat of arms date back to the 14^th century with the of House of Crnojević. The flag of Montenegro was adopted on July 13, 2004.
