The flag of Indonesia contains two horizontal bands colored red and white.  The red on the flag symbolizes bravery and the white represents the spiritual element.  The flag of Indonesia is based on the flag of the Majapahit Empire which contained red and with strips.  The flag of Indonesia was adopted on August 17, 1945.
