The flag of Indiana was adopted on May 31,
1917. The flag
contains a blue field with a gold torch in the center to
represent liberty and enlightenment. Around the torch there are
nineteen stars that represent Indiana`s place as the
nineteenth state to become part of the United
States. The
thirteen stars around the torch symbolize the original
thirteen colonies and the five inner stars symbolize the
five states added to the union. The large star above the
torch represents Indiana.
