The flag of Illinois was
adopted on July 6, 1915. The flag contains a white
field with the “Great Seal of Illinois”. The seal is similar to the
“Great Seal of the United States”. The seal contains the dates
1818 and 1868 the dates when Illinois became a state and when
the seal was developed. In the eagles beak there is a
banner with the words “State Sovereignty”, the state
motto.
