Flag of GUATEMALA
A high qality picture image of Guatemala's
Flag

The flag of Guatemala was adopted on December
26, 1997. The flag contains three vertical bands that
are colored light blue and white. In the center of
the flag is the coat of arms of Guatemala. The blue
on each side of the flag symbolizes the two bodies of
water that Guatemala is surrounded by, the Caribbean Sea
and the Pacific Ocean. The white on the center
band stands for peace and purity. The
coat of arms contains two olive branches symbolizing
victory. In the center there are two crossed
rifles with bayonets indicating Guatemala’s willingness
to defend itself by force if needed. The two swords
under the rifles represent honor. Over the two
rifles there is a scroll that says “Libertad 15 de
Septiembre de 1821” ( Liberty on September 15, 1821) and
standing on the scroll is a Resplendent Quetzal, the
national bird of Guatemala that symbolizes
liberty.
