Flag of CUBA

Cuba

The national flag of Cuba contains a red
equilateral triangle with a five pointed star at the
hoist and five blue and white bands. The three blue bands
represent the three old divisions of the island and the
two white bands symbolize the strengths of independent
ideals. The red triangle stands for equality,
fraternity and freedom as well as the bloodshed in the
country's struggle for freedom. The white star
represents the absolute freedom of the Cuban
people. The flag was designed during the liberation
movement from Spain but it was not officially adopted
until May 20, 1902 when independence was granted by the
US.
