The flag of the Espirito Santo contains three horizontal bands which are colored sky blue, white and pink. The colors are those used by the dress of the Virgin of the Victory which is the patron saint of the capital of the state. The colors are also said to be those of the sky during the summer afternoons. In the center of the white band is the inscription “Trabalha e Confia” (Work and Trust in God). The blue color on the flag symbolizes smoothness and harmony. The white stands for peace and the rose color symbolizes rejoice as well as happiness.
