Flag of ECUADOR
A high qality picture image of the flag of
Ecuador

The flag of Ecuador was adopted on September 26,
1860. The flag contains a larger yellow band on the
top, a blue band on the middle and a red band on the
bottom. In the center of the flag there is Ecuador’s
coat of arms to distinguish the flag from the Colombian
flag. The coat of arms contains an oval shield with Mount
Chimborazo along with a river representing the
Guayas. The ship on the river is the “Guayas”, the
first seaworthy steamship built on the South American
Coast in 1841. On the ship there is a Caduceus that
represents trade and economy. At the top of the
shield is a golden sun inbetween the astrological signs
of Aries, Taurus, Cancer and Gemini which represent
the months that the March Revolution lasted for in
1845. The shield is flanked by four flags of
Ecuador. The palm leaf on the right side stands
for the martyrs of the fight for independence and
the Laurel on the left represents the victories of the
republic. The Condor at the top with its wings
stretched symbolizes the power, greatness and strength of
Ecuador.
