Flag of DOMINICA

The flag of Dominica has a green field with a cross made up of three lines colored yellow, white and black. In the center is a red circle that contains a Sisserou Parrot surrounded by ten stars. The Sisserou Parrot is the national bird and the ten stars represent the ten parishes of the island but also stand for hope and equality.  The lines that form the cross symbolize Dominica`s Christian faith.  The green on the flag represents the green landscape of the island, the red stands for social justice, the black for the earth and African ancestry.  The color yellow stands for sunshine and the white symbolizes purity and the clear waters.  The flag was adopted on November 3, 1978 and has had some minor changes since then.
