of Georgia's Flag

The flag of Georgia is white with a red St.
George`s cross and four smaller flags in each quadrant.
The flag is
known as the “five cross flag” and has been in use since
the 5th century by the Georgian King Vakhtang
Gorgasali. The four other crosses
were added during the crusades and was similar to the
Jerusalem Cross. The five crosses
represented the five holy wounds of Christ. The flag was restored
to use on January 14, 2004 but had been used as the
symbol for the United National Movement political
party.
