Flag

The Californian State flag was adopted in 1911
but modifications into its current design were made in
1953. The
flag was first used during the Bear Flag Revolt when US
Settlers in Sonoma then a Mexican province in California
proclaimed the Bear Flag Republic during the
Mexican-American war. The single star on the
hoist was placed to mimic that of Texas “the Lone
Star”. On
the Center is a now extinct California grizzly bear with
the words “California Republic" under the bear and a red
strip.
