Flag of BELARUS
A high qality image of the flag of
Belarus

The flag of Belarus contains a vertical
ornamental pattern and two horizontal stripes, a larger
red strip and a thinner green strip. The green on the
flag stands for the many forests in the country
and for aspirations about the future. The red
represents the history of Belarus as the color used by
the Belarusian forces at the battle of the Grunwald and
of the Red Army when fighting the Nazi army in World War
II. The ornamental pattern on the flag is used to
represent the cultural past and the current Belarusian
unity. This version of the flag was adopted on June
7, 1995 after Belarus regained its independence from the
Soviet Union in 1991.
