Flag

The flag of Arizona was adopted on February 17,
1917. The flag
contains a copper star in the center with thirteen rays
colored red and gold. The bottom half of the
flag is blue to represent liberty. The thirteen rays
represent the thirteen original counties of the
state. The red
and gold colors were the colors of conquistadors’ Spanish
flag. The
copper color of the star stands for the copper mining
industry of Arizona.
