Flag of ARGENTINA
A high qality image of the flag of
Argentina

The Argentinan flag was adopted on February 27,
1812 and contains 3 equally wide horizontal bands colored
light blue and white. In 1818 the yellow Sun
of May was added to the flag. The Sun of May
represents the Inca sun god Inti. The “of May” is
in reference to the May Revolution in 1810 which marked
the beginning of the independence from
Spain. The Sun of May was originally an
engraving on the first Argentine coin and was later used
on only the battle flag. The sun on the official
flag was not added until 1818.
