The flag of Amapa contains three bands colored
blue, green and yellow. The green band branches out into a
“Y” shape toward the hoist and contains a black and white
border on its edges. On the hoist there is a symbol
that represents the Fortress of São José. The blue color
stands for the sky and for justice. The green
color in the center represents the rainforest and
the yellow stands for the Union as well as its natural
resources. The black stands for those who
worked for the state and the white for peace. The
flag of Amapa was adopted on April 23,
1984.
