The Abkhazian flag was made in 1991.  The seven stars on the flag represent the 7 historical regions of the country.  These seven regions are Abzhywa, Bzyp, Dal-Tsabal, Gumaa, Pskhuy-Aibga, Sadzen and Samurzaqan.  The flag has seven strips that are in the colors green and white.  The colors represent the ability to tolerate islam and chrisitanity together.  The number 7 is symbolic to the Abkhaz people.
